WASHINGTON – The Council on National Security and Immigration (CNSI) today issued a statement of support for the Trump Administration's policy guidance expanding access to H-2A agricultural visas for dairy producers.
"We welcome the new policy extending H-2A eligibility to dairy producers. For too long, the program's seasonal-work requirement has excluded an industry that, by its nature, operates year-round but faces the same persistent seasonal labor shortages as the farms the program was designed to serve. This policy offers some relief for the dairy industry and better reflects how American agriculture works today.
"American agriculture, including dairy, is a cornerstone of our national security and our food supply chain. Ensuring that farmers and dairy producers have lawful, reliable access to the labor they need is not just good economic policy; it is a matter of national resilience. We encourage Congress to build on this momentum and pursue immigration reform that also addresses the needs of our agricultural industry."
