WASHINGTON – The Council on National Security and Immigration (CNSI) today released a statement on U.S. Customs and Border Protection's (CBP) announcement that it has verified the identity of over 1 billion travelers through facial biometric technology since its implementation in 2018.
"CNSI congratulates CBP on reaching this historic milestone. As a group of national security leaders, many of us have supported this endeavor in and out of government service and are proud to have helped build safe, modern border security. Verifying the identity of over 1 billion travelers at air, land, and sea ports of entry demonstrates what is possible when we invest in smart and innovative border security."
"Facial biometrics allow CBP to detect fraud, identify visa overstays, and prevent bad actors from entering the country. It also streamlines the experience for the millions of legitimate travelers who cross our borders every day, strengthening our security while remaining open to the world."
